Post-Graduate Work Permit

Once a student has completed their studies, a vast majority will wish to remain in Canada and gain some Canadian Employment Experience in their chosen area of study.

A post-graduate Work permit (PGWP) is an open work permit which allows the holder to work for any employer in any industry in any location.

Generally, the length of the PGWP will be same as the length of the person’s study permit (minimum 8 months). For those who held a Study Permit of two years or more, you will be eligible for a 3 year PGWP.

No job offer is required for this PGWP so the removal of stress of needing to find a job or receive a job offer is a welcome relief for those who apply for this permit.
